Shepherds Hut FAQs

Do you accept group booking?
No, we don’t take group bookings. This is a quiet site in a rural area where sounds carry quite a distance. We cater for those want to escape the rat-race; somewhere to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet without being disturbed.

Do you accept a one-night booking at a weekend?
No, although we can add you to a waiting list and if there a booking either side which leaves a weekend night available we will contact you to let you know. (This does not happen often).

Are pets allowed in the shepherds huts?
No.

What’s inside a shepherds hut?
Our huts have a king-size bed, wood-burning stove, electric heater, roller blinds and washroom with toilet. There’s a mini kitchen with sink, Baby Belling oven, fridge, electric kettle, toaster, crockery, cutlery and cookware. The washroom and kitchen have hot and cold running water. There is electric lighting throughout additional electric sockets.

Is bedding included in the huts?

Bedding is an optional extra and can be hired.

Are there toilets and showers for people staying in the huts?
There are toilets and showers in the main site block in addition to the facilities in the huts. The showers operate on timers and there are water-saving taps throughout as we are not on mains drainage and every drop needs to be tankered away.

What should I bring?

Food and drinks.

You will need your own bedding unless you wish to hire it from us.
It’s best to bring the directions that we sent when you booked as our site is not always found by a sat nav.

A good torch as there are no outside lighting enabling all to enjoy the night sky.

Wash gear and towel, good walking boots/wellys, comfy chairs if you wish and anything else you normally take camping like hairdryer etc.

There are plates, mugs, glasses and cutlery, kettle and microwave in the small kitchen.

Where do people eat when staying in the huts?

Many people eat out, there are some great pubs we can recommend. There is a list of local eateries and takeaways in our site book.

If you wish to eat in, the huts are fully equipped with small table and chairs set inside and a bistro set outside, weather permitting.

Is there somewhere I can put milk and food?

The huts have their own fridge and cupboards.

Is there a kettle?

Yes, each hut has a kettle.

Is there somewhere I can heat a meal?

Yes, there’s a Baby Belling mini cooker which has two electric rings, a grill and oven.

Is there somewhere I can wash up?

There is a sink with hot running water in the small kitchen.

Can I bring a BBQ

We can provide a BBQ stand if you wish to bring a disposable BBQ; this will need to be cleaned and returned.

All BBQs need to be on a stand well off the grass and a safe distance from the hut. Please note that there are no undercover areas for BBQs.

Is there somewhere I can plug in my phone / laptop / DVD player / hairdryer?

Yes there are electric sockets in the huts but when using hairdryer/straighterners please be careful not to put them where they may damage wood surfaces. Also note that the electrical supply is limited to 16 amps.

Huts are for 2 adults only.

Are pets allowed in the huts?

No, sorry we don’t allow pets in the huts or anywhere on site.
